It will be up against the Lexus RX, Mercedes-Benz GLE.
Infiniti will soon expand its crossover line-up. According to Automotive News, Infiniti promised its dealers last week that a new model would arrive by 2025 in a make meeting. Although the crossover will fit between the QX50/QX60, it will be built on the QX60 platform. It will only be available in two rows, as opposed to the QX60’s three-row.
Infiniti presented the updated model and the QX80 SUV. It also showed the first electric vehicle. This is a swoopy, raised sedan that will be built at Nissan’s Mississippi plant by 2025.
In the Automotive News Report, Sam Fiorani (Vice President at AutoForecast Solutions) stated that the new Infiniti model would be the right-sized model to suit “empty nesters” and smaller families – an area where the Lexus RX as well as the Mercedes-Benz GL dominate.
Kargar stated that when it comes to electrification Kargar told Automotive News it will not forget its ICE-powered models while it expands its EV range. He believes many customers will still look for conventionally-powered cars even by 2030.
Infiniti stated in November 2021 that by 2030 , it would be selling primarily electric vehicles. The company stated that its battery size will not define it, but that customers can choose the right power source for them.
Infiniti also revealed shadowy images of a low-slung version in its announcement last year. Although the concept was largely unrealized, the highlight of the teaser was the flashing of a working tachometer. This suggested that the hybrid model would be an EV-like vehicle.
This is a smart move by Infiniti considering that many automakers have committed to full-on electrification. This and the new crossover will be revealed in the coming years.
