Instagram Leaks Genesis GV80 SUV [UPDATE]

Could this really be true?

These images are from a YouTube user’s June video rendering, a commenter points out. The embedded video is below.

Genesis has its first SUV in the works. The GV80 will be unveiled at the end this year. It is named after the concept that inspired it. We have only seen spy images and renderings so far. These are very limited clues about the final product’s styling. New images show what appears to be the production GV80 in sheet metal.

Genesis Of Freehold is a New Jersey-based Genesis dealership. Multiple images were posted by the group on their Instagram account on September 18. They show what appears to be the production GV80 or something similar. The caption reads “Some new spy pictures of the #gv80#genesis.”

However, the verdict on these claims is yet to be made. We reached out to Genesis of Freehold as well as Genesis corporate for clarification, and are still waiting for a reply from each party. These are early photos of the GV80. It seems that Genesis designers did not stray too far from the original GV80 design’s angles. These photos show an SUV that is quite large with the same split taillight and headlight design as the original concept. Nevertheless, it is now more easily produced.

We expect the Genesis GV80’s debut before the end the year, regardless of what happens. Los Angeles Auto Show is where the SUV will debut, although we’ll learn more about the event as it approaches. The GV80 will borrow multiple engines from its G80 base sedan, which includes a 3.8-liter and twin-turbo 3.3 liter V6. It is not yet clear if the SUV will use the G90’s new 5.0-liter V8.
