It is expected to reach more than $2-million.
The Lamborghini Miura has received a lot of attention and we won’t stop repeating our claim that it is one of the most beautiful cars ever made. The Miura’s status as the automaker’s first supercar, and its limited availability make it a collectible. This particular unit at RM Sotheby’s should excite anyone with deep pockets.
A 1971 Lamborghini Miura P400 S from Bertone. Chassis number 4761, body 675, and production # 575. It has an attractive bare metal finish and a rich history.
This Miura is a time capsule. It has been hidden in a California warehouse for over 40 years. It all began with an Iranian student living in the US who was supposed to sell the supercar, but instead decided to keep it for two years. After minor accidents and several attempts to restore it to its former glory, the project was halted and the Miura was kept in storage.
The Miura was finally purchased by a passionate enthusiast four decades later. He enlisted the help of a team to restore the sleeping bull. Beckman Metal Works performed the eight-month restoration work, and Morgan Images provided the body and paintwork.
Morgan was responsible for removing any remaining paint from the body in order to show the Miura’s sculptured form in bare steel. On the front bulkhead and door jambs, you can still see the original Gray-White paint. The interior retains its original blue theme. According to RM Sotheby’s, all of the work on the restored Miura was fully documented.
The most important thing is that the chassis 4761 Miura has less than 16,000 miles. The auction house estimates that the time capsule will fetch between $1.8 million and $2.2 million. It is offered free of charge.
