Is This Honda Civic Redesign Attempt a Good Match for Your Taste?

Yes, we heard your concerns. The Civic’s new generation is not for everyone.

The new generation Honda Civic has been subject to some criticism for its exterior styling. This understatement has transformed the previously-boy-racer-type sedan into a more mature-looking brother to the Honda Accord. It looks like the nameplate has grown up and is ready for the corporate world.

Although some people, like myself, aren’t completely offended by this move we’ve seen others slam the automaker’s design decisions. Unofficial requests for redesign were made – so much so that TheSketchMonkey YouTube answered the call.

The changes made during the 14-minute acceleration included some minor tweaks to the nose of the 11th-generation Civic and a resize for the lower grille. The C-pillar kink was updated. Additionally, the taillights received changes to make them sportier than the official model.

You won’t find dramatic design updates via TheSketchMonkey‘s redesign effort. Although the changes were subtle, do you think they gave the Civic a more appealing appeal? We’ll let you decide, but we recommend that you watch the video at the top of this page and then skip to the end for a comparison between the front and rear.

We should all remember that design is an expression of personal taste. If you love the aggressive styling of the old Civic, the new Civic will be a disappointment. However, those who were disappointed by Civic X’s appeal to boys-racers will enjoy the new more mature version.

The new Civic’s minimalist interior design has attracted more attention than the exterior. This is a good thing for Honda’s most popular model.
