We have written before about the stunning McLaren 720S Spider, but this video from the McLaren Automotive YouTube channel sheds light on its unique paint job.

Although most people will not have this privilege, nearly every manufacturer of high-end cars offers the ability to customize and paint your car right at the factory. You can have anything you want, from wild exterior colors to custom-dyed leather upholstery to more horsepower.

McLaren Special Operations was responsible for the unusual paint job on this McLaren 720S Spider. This internal division is charged with making customers’ dreams come true. This beautiful, deep blue paint color was created using three colors: Cerulean Blue (Burt Blue) and Abyss black to create a new color MSO calls “Coriolis.”

Thic Corilois paint was used as an accent to the Metorite Grey. Meteorite Grey, another color that MSO created for special cars and clients, is also available.

MSO estimates that the car took 260 hours. Expert painters, true artisans, carefully applied the paint so that fade effects mimicked the car’s movement through the air in wind tunnels. It is both subtle and striking, and will grab your attention in the same way as a beautiful painting in an art museum.

We think it’s fair to compare the bespoke McLaren car with an influential, priceless work of art created by one of the greatest masters of all time, given the amount of work involved. MSO wanted to demonstrate how far they will go to please their highly discerning customers by building this car.
