Jaguar Classic, Jaguar’s automaker’s restoration department, delivered a 1965 E-Type Roadster to its owner during The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant. The celebration included a parade of models from Jaguar Classic, which the customer was able to participate in.
From the year he was born, the buyer wanted an E-Type Roadster. Jaguar Classic was even more successful in finding a Jaguar E-Type Roadster with a build date that was only two days after the birthday of the customer. However, the car needed extensive restoration in order to be roadworthy.
The body of the rebuilt E-Type Roadster is in a unique shade of blue, which takes its inspiration from the Union Jack. The original lamps have been replaced by LED headlights. The interior features leather upholstery in a red hue that is derived from British post boxes.
This car is also equipped with many upgrades to the original Series 1 E-Type Roadster. This convertible has a 4.7-liter powerplant, instead of the original 4.2-liter straight six. The engine now has a real sound thanks to a new exhaust and manifold. Jaguar claims that the updated five-speed manual is quieter, smoother and more refined than the one from the 1960s.
Other upgrades are available to handle the increased output of the larger engine. These include a better suspension, improved brakes and wider tires.
The cabin of this E-Type has the Classic Infotainment System, which consists a small screen to display satellite navigation directions. It supports Bluetooth and a touchscreen. The plaque at the dashboard reads “E-Type 1961-2021”.
Jaguar Classic is an upgrade for classic E-Types that includes the five-speed gearbox with improved performance and the Classic Infotainment System.
E-Types are a common starting point to create restomods. EType UK took an E-Type Series 3 coupe and built a model using a fuel-injected, 6.1-liter V12 that produces 400 horsepower (298 kW). The suspension and brakes were also updated. The body featured LED headlights and a chrome front bumper. There were also extended louvers on its hood.
The company Eagle also has a whole business that builds modernized E-Types. To reduce weight, extensive modifications may be made to the monocoque, engine block, and gearbox.
