Jaguar E-Type Restomod Revealed with 400 Horsepower

A small British company has unveiled a 400-hp Jaguar E-Type Restomod. They are now accepting orders for more. The upgraded Jaguar E-Type is based on the matching-numbers E-Type. It can carry two people with their luggage from London to St Tropez, according to its maker.

The car was constructed by Jaguar restoration, race preparation firm Woodham Mortimer and features the WM Sport GT. It also has an upgraded interior, including safety equipment, such as inertia reel seatbelts. Although the exterior looks are very similar to the E-Type, closer inspection will reveal some differences.

Woodham Mortimer has made the body a little wider and a custom-made chromework has been added. Enthusiasts won’t be surprised to see that the bumpers don’t have “over-riders”. The interior has been redesigned with custom-made seats wrapped in leather and Alcantara trim. A new chunky steering wheel, a custom-made pedal box, and a leather-trimmed underneathfloor storage compartment are also included.

The biggest changes take place under the skin. Here, the WM Sport GT receives a complete heart transplant. The original six-cylinder engine is gone. A 4.7-liter motor with race-proven performance produces approximately 400 horses. It sends that enormous power to the rear wheels, which are shod with Avon tires. This is done via Woodham Mortimer’s five-speed manual gearbox as well as a Powerloc limited slip differential.

The ventilated disc brakes have six-piston front calipers and four-piston rear calipers. Fully adjustable coil-over dampers, uprated springs and uprated anti-roll bar are also available to provide “sure-footed handling” as well as ride comfort.

All these additions come at a price. Woodham Mortimer estimates that the WM Sport GT costs between PS330,000 to PS350,000 depending on its specifications (roughly $384,000 to $48,000 at current exchange rates). This is a significant amount of money. Woodham Mortimer CEO Peter Haynes says that the result of this outlay and the labor hours required to create the car is the “ultimate classic GT car.”

He said, “The new era in WM Sport cars represents an exciting development for our business.” We have spent thousands of hours designing the ultimate GT. This is the best performance car for modern motoring, and we believe its performance and attention will please the most discerning enthusiasts.
