Jaguar finally revealed the F-Type coupe, which will also be available in the high-performance R model.
It is almost identical in design to the CX16 concept. In essence, it is a fixed roof variant the F Type Roadster.
The vehicle will be available in both the base and S versions. It is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 supercharged motor rated at 340 HP/450 Nm in entry-level models and 380HP/460 Nm for the S version. The base model can reach a speed of 0-60 mph (0-60 km/h), in just 5.1 seconds. It then reaches a top speed at 161 mph (259km/h), while the S version takes 4.9 seconds to reach 60 mph.
The F-Type Coupe’s crown jewel will be the R version, which features a V8 5.0-liter supercharged motor taken from the XKR/XFR-S models. The engine churns 550 HP (404 kW) and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) which is enough to enable a 0-60 mph run in just four seconds and an electronically-limited top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h).
Jaguar F-Type R Coupe is equipped with a second-generation Electronic Active Differential (EAD) and a new “Torque Vectoring By Braking System.” They have greatly improved the vehicle’s handling through intelligently applying brake force to the inner wheels when necessary and automatically distributing engine torque between the rear wheels.
Optionally, the S and R versions can be equipped with carbon ceramic matrix brakes (CCM), which weigh 21 kg (46 lbs), less than the standard braking system. The F-Type coupes have an eight-speed, close-ratio Quickshift transmission. This transmission can be controlled from either the central SportShift selector (or from the paddles on the steering wheel) with full manual sequential control.
Jaguar UK states that the F-Type Coupe starts at 51,235 GBP. The S version is available at 60,235, GBP. This means that the two versions are 7,285 GBP less than the F-Type Roadster. The F-Type R Coupe, which is the most expensive in its class, starts at 85,000 GBP. The sales will begin next March.
