Jaguar hints at C-X75 styling for the Next-Gen, Midengined F-Type

Ian Callum would love it.

A good idea is never dead. According to a report by Autocar, Jaguar may use the jaguar C-x75mid-engined supercar as its styling inspiration for the next generation F Type. This plan was said to have been one of Ian Callum’s final acts as ‘s former design boss.

Callum stated that “we could get quite close [to C-X75]”.Autocar. Jaguar still has a formula for a front-mid engined car. I prefer mid-engined cars. It is definitely something I would love to see.”

Jaguar is still deliberating whether the next-generation F-Type should be a mid-engined or hybrid-assisted engine. Callum suggests that a CX75-inspired design might work with either layout.

Jaguar has yet to make a decision as spy photos of the company’s F-Type are still being developed. The images and videos show that the performance car has significant styling changes at the front, including narrower, more slit-like headlights as well as larger inlets in the corners. Revisions to the bumper design and diffuser design appear to be the only changes at the rear.

The CX75, Jaguar’s next-generation supercar, was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show 2010. Two turbine engines were used to produce electricity for four, 195-horsepower (145 kilowatt) motors in the original concept. The later version of the engine was a turbocharged, supercharged 1.6-liter four cylinder and two electric motors. This combination produced over 850 horsepower (634 kW), and 1,000 Newton-meters (773 pound-feet).

Callum regretted online that the C-X75 was not being produced shortly after he announced his retirement from Jaguar.

The report suggests that he may still be able to see it on the road.
