Jaguar adds more visual pizzazz to an already stylish sedan.
The XJ story began in 1968 with the Series I model. It was followed by seven generations, with the most recent in 2009. While the X351 is still available, some might argue that it’s a bit old-fashioned compared to full-size luxury sedans. However, the XJ still stands out. Jag will be presenting an anniversary edition of the XJ at the Beijing Motor Show to celebrate 50 years.
The commemorative luxobarge is available in standard- and long-wheelbase configurations. It features new front and back bumpers that are similar to the Autobiography model. The vehicle rides on 20-inch Venom alloy wheels. It also comes with the obligatory model-exclusive badge that is adorning the side and rear vents. The grille at the front has been blacked. Customers can choose from Rosello Red or Santorini Black or Fuji White as well as this beautiful Loire Blue shade.
The luxurious Jaguar cabin features soft-grain, diamond-quilted seats and fancy headrests with embossed leapers. To distinguish it from the regular model, the central armrest features the “XJ50”, logo that you’ll also see on the illuminated treadplates. Bright metal pedals are available and anodized paddles for the gearshift.
It is not yet known if it will be available outside of the United Kingdom, where it can be ordered starting at PS74,280.
The XJ’s ninth generation will feature a more luxurious sedan and be sportier. Although it is not clear when it will launch, Jaguar has stated that the XJ will be its next launch. Jag says the next XJ will not be a rival to the S-Class, and that it is not being designed to compete with Mercedes’ flagship. It will instead be a more driver-focused sedan that will introduce new technology to the brand.
