BMW offers Japan something unique, but it’s not available for long. The company revealed last week that it would be selling an 8 Series Gran Coupe Collector’s Edition. It will only be available in Japan until June 31st. BMW’s four-door coupe is built on top of the 840i Gran Coupe with M Sport package. However, all upgrades are only visual and leave the inline-six untouched.
This special edition is distinguished by subtle chrome trim inside and outside. BMW restricts the exterior color options to four: Tanzanite Blue (a vivid blue); Dravite Grey (a fine grey); Aventurine Red (a deep red); and Azurite Black (a BMW Individual color). Azurite Black, a premium option, costs an additional Y=210,000 ($1926 according to current exchange rates), on top of the Collector’s Edition’s Y=15.1million ($138.549) price tag. The chrome bi-color 20 inch M light alloy wheels are another visual upgrade.
BMW does not provide interior photos. However, the company states that the Collector’s Edition features ivory white BMW Individual full leather Merino leather seats and an Alcantara roof lining. The exterior color of the vehicle is also contrasted by its color combination. The 840i Gran Coupe’s 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six from BMW produces 335 horsepower (249 Kilowatts) as well as 369 pound-feet (599 Newton-meters) of torque.
BMW does not say how many 8 Series Gran Coupe Collector’s Editions it will make, but the company says it is a limited edition model. You can purchase it online or at authorized BMW dealers in Japan. Although the package adds some styling to the 8 Series Gran Coupe, it lacks performance upgrades. BMW also offers more powerful models for those who want performance. The 8 Series Gran Coupe Collector’s Edition is a little more focused on styling.
