They need to be restored but can be restored to road-worthy condition with some elbow grease.
A pair of extended Chevrolet Suburbans with 10-door doors have been listed for sale in Japan. Both are available on distinct Yahoo Auctions pages. They will be gone on Thursday, July 22, at 11:59 PM. At the current exchange rate, neither SUV has received any bids. The opening price is 1 million yen ($9.068.85). Both of these big rigs were allegedly used as airport shuttles. It was not unusual for a vehicle to wait on the tarmac to take passengers to the terminal rather than the plane pulling up to the gate. The auction listings show that the Suburban in gold-beige was sold in January 1983 and the gray-blue one is from July 1987. Both have a 454-cubic inch (7.43-liter), and an automatic gearbox.
These are the only four known examples of this model worldwide, according to the seller. Stageway, later Armbruster–Stageway, built extended Suburbans over the decades. We didn’t find any 1980s Suburbans with five doors on either side in our research. Although an eight-door layout was possible, photos of other 10-door models were not found. The seller states that neither of the Suburbans is in great condition and that the new owner must pick them up. These behemoths will need a lot of work from the new owner. Because of its superior body condition and the absence of visible broken windows, the blue one seems to be a better candidate. It’s not clear how these SUVs arrived in Japan. It’s even more bizarre that the seller also sold vehicles you would not expect to find in the country, such as a Lincoln Towncar Limo and Daimler Double Six. They could have been part of the American fleet at one of the Japanese military bases.
