Divergent Technologies created the Blade in California. It is the only 3D-printed supercar.
Divergent Blade is an extraordinary vehicle. The Divergent Blade is the “first 3D-printed supercar” and it’s powered by a Mitsubishi Evo engine with 720 horsepower (521 kilowatts). It’s made of aluminum, carbon fiber and titanium and is street legal. However, the company wants to outsource the technology right now.
Although it was unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours in California nearly two years ago, Jay Leno finally got a chance to have a go. This is what you do with a brand new supercar. Jay, along with Kevin Czinger (Founder and CEO), takes a close look at the supercar before setting it on the road.
The Blade’s 720-hp (521kW) engine is capable of a sprint of just 2.5 seconds (0-60 MPH) and a top speed near 200 MPH (321 kmh). The platform can be adapted to any type of powertrain, whether it is gas-powered or not. It weighs in at 1,388 pounds (629 kg), which is about 90% less than traditional supercars.
There’s more. The Divergent 3D construction means that the CEO Kevin Czinger also brought along a modified Kawasaki H2 motorcycle. It’s approximately 20% lighter than the factory model. The frame was constructed using just five components, compared with the more than 100 parts on the standard bike. These two vehicles make up a truly futuristic line-up.
