These Jeeps are rumored to be front-wheel driven and will run multiple tunes from a 2.0-liter turbo-four-cylinder.
revealed the Grand Commander’s appearance several weeks ago. However, Jeep has been very tight-lipped about the specifications of the China-exclusive SUV. A leak from Indian Autos blog now suggests that potential details have been revealed about the Commander and Commander, both seven-seat Grand Commander. The official details on the Commander and Grand sibling will be revealed at the Beijing Motor Show’s April debut.
The Grand and the standard Commander will both be front-wheel-drive, with an option for all-wheel-drive. They will share a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. The front-drive versions will have 231 horsepower (172kilowatts), while the AWD version will have 262 horsepower (195 kW). The only gearbox available will likely be a nine-speed automatic.
China will only have the Commander twins, but North America will soon get a larger Jeep. For a 2020 debut, the brand will produce the Wagoneer as well as Grand Wagoneer (see spy photos above). The Grand model will be the longest of the two models. The aluminum used extensively will help keep the weight down. The models will have a similar design to the Grand Cherokee’s current Grand Cherokee. However, the body is larger so spy shots are not necessary. Also present are the Jeep Yuntu’s skinny headlights. The Wagoneer twins, unlike the Commanders in China would ride on a rear-drive-oriented platform with the company’s “Trail-rated” all-wheel drive system.
According to reports, the Wagoneer will take Jeep to a new level in terms of pricing. According to reports, a Grand Wagoneer fully loaded with Land-Rover-rivaling amenities could set you back $140,000
