This handsome concept is not a Scrambler, it’s a Scrambler.
A new Jeep Scrambler will soon be available. While we wait patiently for this Wrangler-based pickup to arrive, Appu Koshy, a rendering artist, has created a rugged truck for the Jeep range. It’s called the Crusader, a name that is appropriate for the aggressive vehicle. Although it shares little with the Wrangler in terms of aesthetics, it’s still a rugged, body-on frame vehicle designed to tackle any challenge.
The truck’s designer describes it as “an adventure pickup truck for North American markets.” It’s easy to agree with this description based only on its styling. Although the concept is bold, it retains many of the hallmark cues that make a Jeep… a Jeep. Chief among them is the seven-slat grille.
The sleek headlights and high-mounted tires allow the body to ride high on all-terrain wheels. A fascia-mounted winch and roof-mounted fog lights add credibility to the vehicle’s off-road capabilities. A unique design bed features a loading bed that is factory-mounted and several storage compartments throughout the body.
The cabin features high-quality materials such as leather and Alcantara. It also has a futuristic central infotainment that controls almost all aspects of vehicle operation. The centrally mounted screen allows you to select from seven different driving modes, including Auto, Snow, or Mud. You can also remotely control the suspension and tire pressure.
The concept has a 35-degree approach angle and a 31 degree departure angle. This may not be as good as the JL Wrangler (44/37), however it is respectable for an offroad rig this large. The Jeep measures more than 17 feet long (5,300 millimeters), 7 feet (2,144 millimeters), wide (7.4 meters) and 6.5 feet (2,003 milimeters).
The Crusader’s rendering is only a rendering, but it is a beautiful one nonetheless. We hope that the new Scrambler will have at least half the features listed here and look nearly as aggressive when it debuts in a few months.
