Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk reaches 175 MPH

Yeah, that’s fast.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk has a quick speed. The super SUV is said to reach 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds thanks to its Hellcat V8 engine that produces 707 horsepower (527 kilowatts). We had a first driving experience with the monster back in August. However, our butt dynos confirmed that Jeep wasn’t exaggerating this number. We were unable to experience the claimed top speed at 180 mph.

Hennessey Performance had the opportunity to test the Trackhawk’s aerodynamic capabilities at speed on their test track. Although there are many horses under the Jeep’s hood, the Jeep is a smooth splitter of air. As the speed increases, the Grand Cherokee’s brick-shaped body will be pushed through the air. Is it possible for a Jeep Grand Cherokee to hit a buck eighty with its freaking Jeep Grand Cherokee?

The Trackhawk did not meet expectations, as you can see from the headline and the photo. There are many variables when it comes to speeds normally reserved for passenger jets. Official top-speed records are based on an average speed in both directions. It’s not unusual to see deviations of up to 10 mph when the needle is twisted to the left. The video also mentions that this Grand Cherokee is still brand new and has not been fully broken in yet. Therefore, it is possible to find a few more digits once the Hellcat motor has been used.

But here’s the truth: Who cares? It doesn’t mean that the crazed Trackhawk is irrelevant. However, it did 175 mph. A Jeep, with lots of cargo space and a factory warranty, was faster than a Lamborghini. We don’t care if it goes an extra five mph. This SUV is a fast and powerful option for those who want to take their kids to school in style.
