Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk sets the fastest SUV on Ice record

The SUV, which is 707 horsepower, managed to reach 280 kph (174 MPH).

According to the old saying, records are made to be broken. Jeep knew exactly what it was doing when it transported its Grand Cherokee Trackhawk from southern Siberia to participate in the annual Speed Days at the Baikal Ice Motor Sports Festival. Lake Baikal was the deepest lake in the globe and the largest freshwater lake. It provided the perfect place for the 707-horsepower beast to stretch its legs, with a course length of 12 km (7.45 miles).

Jeep claims that “unnecessary” items were removed from the vehicle in order to reduce weight and the fuel level was sufficient to make the record-breaking run. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk was able to reach a speed of 257 km/h (160 mph), over 1.62 kilometers (0.62 mi), with a rolling start, and an average speed of more than 100 km/h (62 mph) when starting from a standing position.

The GPS trackers recorded a speed record of 280 km/h (174 mph), making it the fastest SUV on Ice. It’s important to note that the record was set by the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile, and was confirmed by the Russian Automobile Federation (RAF).

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk’s top speed is 290 kph (180 MPH) when it’s on asphalt. This makes it one the most powerful production SUVs ever made. Few vehicles can reach that speed, such as the Lamborghini Urus or the Bentley Bentayga Speed which can achieve speeds of 305 kph (189 mph) and 306. kph (219 mph (190 mph), respectively.

A BMW M3 E30 equipped with a Toyota 2JZ engine producing 1,300 horsepower holds the record for fastest vehicle on ice. The record was established a few months ago at the Swedish Speed Week in Arsunda (Sweden) . It is 346.82 km/h (215.5 mph ).
