Adrian Van Campenhout, Jeep’s international product planning head, stated that there is little chance of a Grand Cherokee “Coupe,” to compete with the BMW X6. He asked rhetorically, “What volume are those guys getting?” Jeep doesn’t want to launch a niche product that would only sell in limited quantities, so he implied.

Van Campenhout stated that the next generation Jeep Grand Cherokee will be released in 2017, around the same time as the new Wrangler Rubicon, which will act as a “hero” car for the brand.

Jeep’s product chief said that a three-door Renegade was an “interesting idea”, so it is possible that it might happen in the future.
