The 2021 model year will see Freedom, Islander and the 80th Anniversary Edition.
Expect a slew of special edition Jeeps for 2021. Not only is the Gladiator getting some -tweaked-out versions but also the Renegade. After finding a VIN decoder from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a member of Wagoneer fans forums said that this is the case for the Renegade’s model year changeover.
The document states that the 2021 Renegade will come in Freedom, Islander and Jeepster versions in North America. These sounds familiar? They are because the first two were used on the Wranglerwhile Jeepster doesn’t need any introduction. It was last used for a Wrangler Rubicon concept in March 2018. The 1998 NAIAS witnessed the unveiling a cool concept with the same name.
The Renegade Freedom will likely sport military-themed decals similar to the Wrangler Freedom. It also has satin carbon-painted alloys and embroidered seats. A data plate is included as a nod towards the Jeep’s military past. A “Oscar Mike”, which is military-speak for “on top of the move”) tailgate might be in the works.
The Renegade Islander would be based on previous Wrangler generations, with Jeep having used it last year for the JK generation. This specification may be based on the midrange Altitude trim. It will feature the same paint options as the Wrangler ten years ago: Surf Blue Pearl Coat and Bright Silver Metallic Clear Coat.
Apart from these three versions, it is believed that the Renegade will receive the 80 anniversary edition. This edition is expected to be available for all Jeep models. It is listed in the NHTSA document and comes with front- or all-wheel drive. Chances are that it is either the Altitude, Limited trim.
The missing piece is whether the Renegade4xe plug in hybrid, which was launched in Europe recently, will be available in the United States in 2021.
