More than 50 spy photos show the interior, wheels and undercarriage.
The spy photographers have been on a mission, chasing prototypes around Michigan, to get a better look at the Jeep Scrambler pickup. The trucks are still covered in heavy camouflage, but that hasn’t stopped the photos from coming in. We have more than 50 images in this gallery of the Wrangler pickup taken from almost every angle. Even though camo is thick, we can still see some new details.
These trucks are final versions, so although they are still completely covered, it is possible to reveal them. The interior of previous prototypes was seen with components from the JK-series, but we now see the latest JL-Series designs in the greenhouse. A close-up of the wheels also shows identical tire sizes to the current Jeep.
Two different Scrambler models are also visible in the photos. One model could be the Rubicon, which has the aggressive Falken offroad tires. The other could be the Sport model. The Scrambler will ride on a modified Wrangler Unlimited frame that has styling similarities to the current Wrangler. We use similar to indicate that there may be additional tweaks at the front to differentiate the truck from standard off-road vehicles.
The Scrambler will fit in the mid-size pickup category to compete with the Chevrolet Colorado or Ford Ranger. It could also be spawned a hybrid model. We expect to see FCA’s familiar, 3.6-liter V6 under its square Wrangler hood. This will be paired with an 8-speed automatic.
The heavy wrap will soon be visible. Production will begin next April. Since these models are production-spec, it is possible for a reveal later in the year. It will most likely go live next January at the North American International Auto Show, Detroit. Enjoy the large gallery of spy photos in the meantime.
