Jeep’s Wrangler is rugged and pickup-friendly, making it a winning combination.
The Jeep Wrangler pickup is expected to arrive under the Scrambler monikerin April 2019. This truck is one of the most anticipated, so any chance to see it in action is welcome. These photos capture the truck in a snowy setting and give a great view of the rear.
Many shots show the truck in its parked state, with no camouflage (see above). This is the best shot yet of the spray-painted pattern. It doesn’t hide much. This piece is a traditional way to get to the bed. It lacks the complex opening capabilities of modern pickups like the one on GMC Sierra.
This Scrambler is camouflaged in the same way as the spy photos. The pickup will look almost identical to the four-door Wrangler Unlimited, but with a pickup bed at the back. Jeep has not yet indicated that they will offer a two-door model.
The Wrangler would power the truck’s engine. Base engine is a 3.6-liter V6 that produces 285 horsepower (213 Kilowatts) & 260 pound-feet (353 Nm) of torque. Buyers can also upgrade to a turbocharged four-cylinder of 270 hp (1201 kW) & 295 lb/ft (400Nm) respectively. The base engine can be ordered with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic. Although it is not yet clear if the Wrangler Rubicon’s combination for a 4:1 low range ratio for the transfer box and locking differentials would be available to the Scrambler this tech would make the pickup one the most capable off-roaders on the market.
The Wrangler will have a plug-in hybrid engine that could join the truck’s powertrain line but it will not be available at this time.
The Scrambler’s sales will begin in approximately one year. However, the model will be available for purchase before then. According to rumors, the unveiling will take place at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show in October.
