Jeep Wagoneer And Grand Wagoneer Going Hybrid By 2025

Jeep confirmed that V8s were no longer used in performance Jeeps.

Jeep’s hybrid SUV portfolio is expanding rapidly. Motor Authority spoke with Jim Morrison, head of Jeep brand, about the future of Jeep powertrains. Morrison stated that Jeep’s focus is on plug-in hybrid drivestrains that provide customers with both power and economy. Jeep’s flagship Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models will be equipped with a hybrid 4xe drivetrain in 2025 to demonstrate their commitment to hybrid-focused designs.

Morrison gave Motor Authority a clear picture of the future for Jeep powertrains in his interview. Motor Authority was told by Morrison that V8s were dead in performance Jeeps and that there is no plan for the Trackhawk nameplate.

Jeep’s focus is now on expanding the 4xe nameplate. Motor Authority was informed by Morrison that both the Grand Wagoneer as well as the Wagoneer will receive 4xe trims in 2025. Motor Authority asked Morrison to confirm which gasoline engine would receive hybridization in the Wagoneer. It is clear from speculation that the 2.0-liter inline-4 used in the current 4xe Jeeps is not large enough to receive hybridization in the Wagoneer. There is hope that this trim will use Jeep’s new turbocharged 6 inline-6.

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe, which was launched in September 2020, represented the future of Jeep. While the Wrangler 4xe was still a capable off-roader, it now has the benefit of instant electric torque as well as improved fuel economy. The Wrangler4xe’s 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine produces 270 horsepower. It is paired with two electrical motors and a 400-volt lithium-ion battery pack that can last for 17 hours. The plug-in hybrid system generates 375 horsepower (637 Newton-meters) and 470 pounds-feet (637 kilowatts).

2022. Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe has the exact same powertrain as the Jeep Wrangler 4xe. It is more efficient than the base V6 engine and less fuel-intensive than the optional V8.

Customers would be able to choose from a 4xe trim for Jeep’s Grand Wagoneer or Wagoneer top-of-the-line Wagoneer. This will offer a more powerful and efficient SUV. This winning formula is sure to be a welcome addition to the Wagoneer range, based on the success of the Grand Cherokee 4xe and Wrangler 4xe.
