Karma Launches Beautiful Pininfarina-Designed Electric Coupe

We are eager to see it go into production!

Karma Automotive will be displaying a two-door concept at the 2019 Auto Shanghai. Pininfarina GT, which is based upon the Revero GT, was designed by Pininfarina.

Official press release states that this is the first result of a partnership between Pininfarina, an iconic Italian design and engineering company. This hint at future products possible in collaboration between the two companies. The coupe is the same exterior dimensions as the Revero GT but the overall appearance of the coupe is sportier due to the longer hood and shorter rear overhang.

The Turin-based studio has created a new body and interior that offer “an alternative design interpretation.” Nearly all exterior panels have a new shape, and this is especially true at front. The bumper’s single, large opening is gone. Instead, there are two smaller aerodynamic openings. They are slightly lower than the Revero GT production model and have a completely different shape and dimension.

Karma Automotive does not give any technical details, but states that the concept “retained fundamental engineering parameters” from the donor car. We believe that the Revero GT-powered two-door car has the same powertrain. It features a 1.5-liter turbo engine from BMW, an onboard generator, and two motors to produce 535 horsepower (399 Kilowatts) combined and 550 pound-feet (746 Lb-ft) of torque.

Pininfarina, a Southern California-based maker of electric cars, is proud of the fact “Pininfarina reserves GT (Gran Turismo Designation) designation for only its most extraordinary in-house creations.” This project marks “the first occasion in its history that Pininfarina graced an collaborative project with its GT.”
