Ken Block Teases the New Ram TRX Special Edition Model. It Debuts June 7, 2007

Do you think it’s just an appearance package?

Ken Block, rally driver and tire slayer extraordinaire celebrated national donut day last week with donuts. We are not talking about the type of donuts you eat. However, his donut adventures didn’t involve any Ford, Subaru, Hyundai, Audi or Audi. These brands have all been in his wheelhouse recently in some way or another. His garage seems to be expanding to include a truck that packs a serious punch.

As showed last week, we knew that the Gymkhana star was working with Ram. It was thought to be a Hellcat-powered TRX. Now, we have confirmation in a teaser. Block’s social media accounts are the only source of this teaser. It shows a close-up view of the muscle truck and promises a “new and unreleased” edition on June 7.

We couldn’t find any clues to this TRX from the black-and white photos after looking closely at them. The truck is nearly completely covered in dust, so it’s hard to see. This teaser was taken from far beyond a drone so it’s not as if there is much to see. Ram is a huge fan of the special edition pickup trucks so it’s likely that we will be looking into some sort of appearance package for TRX.

A power upgrade is less likely, but it’s possible. It’s currently the world’s most powerful factory pickup truck with 702 horsepower (523kilowatts), but it’s not impossible. The Ford F-150 Raptor R will debut sometime in this year. It’s expected that it’ll have at least 725 horsepower (541 kW) thanks to the supercharged 5.2-liter engine used in the Mustang Shelby GT500. A debut of Raptor R could be weeks away, as recent sightings have shown that Raptor R prototypes were completely unveiled.

The Raptor R is so close to production, it’s difficult to overlook the timing of the new TRX edition. We know that the Ram’s 6.2-liter Hellcat Hellcat V8 has more power. It produces 797 horsepower (594 kW in the Challenger Hellcat Redeye). Is there a final battle for internal-combustion horsepower in the truck industry before electric power takes over?

This new Ram TRX edition will be revealed at 12:00 on June 7.
