Ken Block will participate in the All-Electric Rallycross Series

Let’s take an in-depth look at his brand new car.

The FIA World Rallycross Championship announced today that Ken Block will race in the 2020 Projekt E Series. The all-electric league will serve as a support series for the existing rallycross program. It won’t take his spotter long to locate Block’s Ford in the field, as you can see.

The Mk 8 Ford Fiesta rally chassis appears to be the basis of his chariot. Stard Advanced Research & Development, Austria built the vehicle. It is expected to produce 600 horsepower (447.22 kilowatts), and 739 feet-pounds (11,000 newton meters) of torque for all four wheels. The Tesla Cybertruck’s powertrain will look similar, and will include three electric motors connected to all four wheels by a two-speed gearbox. Although the vehicle’s top speed is only 150 mph (241 km/h) it’s not very important for rallycross. However, its electric motors are expected to produce incredible acceleration off the line.

Block’s car will stand out with its vibrant Hoonigan Racing livery, as you would expect. This theme is likely to be carried forward from his previous project.

Escort RS Cosworth Rally car featuring a mix of yellow, orange, white and white. His Fiesta features many Monster Energy logos, in addition to the Gymkhana Man’s flashy livery.

We are eager to see what Block does with the new support series after he pulled out of the top tier in 2017 FIA World Rallycross Championship. With Mads Ostberg and other confirmed drivers, the racing is ready for competition.

We are curious if Ken’s experience in Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s was a factor in his decision to go all-out and no-brakes for the new series. We wish Ken every success in his new venture, regardless of past results.
