Rumours of a Kia Soul Convertible circulated since the introduction of the Soulster concept by the company at the 2009 North American International Auto Show. Soon-Nam Lee, a marketing executive at Autocar stated that the model would be available in 2014.
This doesn’t seem to be true. Car & Driver spoke to Michael Choo, Kia’s global head of public relations. He stated that a convertible Soul was in the long-term product strategy, but it has been dropped. A hot hatch will be “coming next year to Europe in sporty versions the Cee’d five and three-door models,” he said.
According to reports, the high-performance Cee’d will have a sport-tuned suspension as well as a turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine producing approximately 220-230 hp (164-172 kW / 223-233 PS).
