Let’s get one for the Kia coupe, which is quite attractive and very affordable.
The Forte lineup was updated by Kia more than a decade ago at the Detroit Auto Show. It received a host of cosmetic tweaks and a new 2.0-liter engine, as well as a new S trim and a new S trim. The Forte Koup, which was sleeker, was expected to get the same goodies later in this year. But it never happened. We now know why. James Hope, spokesperson for Kia, revealed that the Forte Koup will be scrapped after the 2016 model year.
KMA will end the two-door Koup to better align with customers’ buying trends following the sale-down of the remaining 2016 model-year inventory.
This means that the model is no longer available for new orders. However, if you hurry you might still be able find one at a discounted price. The EX model with the 173-hp 2.0 liter engine is available on the company’s website at $19,890 MSRP before destination and handling fees. The SX model with the more powerful 201-hp turbo is listed at $20,690.
You’ll actually pay much less because there’s a $2,500 rebate available right now. The dealer may also offer an additional discount to clear out any 2016MY inventory.
The Forte Koup is being discontinued by Kia due to low demand. However, the two other body styles are doing well. James Hope claims that the Forte family delivered “new heights” last year, and 2017 already looks great with sales up by nearly five percent in the first quarter. The entry-level Forte sedan is available at $16,600, while the more expensive Forte5 hatchback SX starts at $23,800.
