The comparison is serious this time.
Kiareckons that it has something to do with the new Stinger. We generally agree. Many Motor1.com editors have had a lot of time in this car, and the consensus is that it has a lot of street cred. Its powerful biturbo V6 can be very responsive and fun in corners. We even pitted it against the BMW 430i Gran Coupe – a machine that is at a comparable price to the Stinger GT. For its refinement and feedback edge, we landed on team BMW. However, the Kia was still deemed a winner because it is so exciting to drive and so close to the Bimmer.
Kia has now done its own BMW comparison and added a Porsche Panamera to the mix. You can probably guess what the result will be if you look at the Kia comparo. We are pretty certain that the automaker won’t upload a video of the prizefighter getting slammed, even though the tests were done by an independent agency. The video shows what people think about the Stinger after they have driven it. It has power and moves and isn’t afraid to use them, even though it’s twice as expensive.
While the BMW was cheaper than the Kia, the larger and more powerful 640i Gran Coupe M Sport was chosen by Kia. Although the Panamera is a base model, it is more expensive than the Stinger and has a lower horsepower. The cars were then put through 0-60 blasts and skid pad tests. They also had to go on closed-course laps. The video will not give the details, but the independent judge determined that the 640i lost every stage. Panamera and the Stinger both won by very narrow margins.
Although Kia did a very humorous comparison of its new Forte with a Lamborghini Aventador recently, the Stinger is not a joke. Kia’s days with throwaway vehicles such as the Sephia are gone.
