Kid Rock’s 2005 Ford GT Goes to Auction for $638,000

Based on previous auctions, this is a strong selling point for a GT.

RM Sotheby’s sold a 2005 Ford GT that Kid Rock had owned since its inception for $638,000 at a Fort Lauderdale, Florida company sale. It had only 3,096 miles (4 983 kilometers) on the American supercar. The vehicle’s designer Camilo Pardo signed the poster and Kid Rock autographed the guitar.

According to the RM Sotheby’s listing, Kid Rock’s GT is one of 669 examples in Mark IV Red with white stripes. The rocker ordered the painted stripes and the McIntosh stereo.

The GT’s supercharged 5.4-liter V8 makes 550 horsepower (678 Newton-meters) and 500 lb-ft (678 kilowatts). The only choice was a six-speed manual. The car reached 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.0 seconds.

According to RM Sotheby’s auction listing Kid Rock’s car was “a very early production instance” of the GT40, with a build date of August 2004. Ford delivered the first supercar to a customer in August 2004. Jon Shirley, a former Microsoft executive, was the buyer.

It could be the Ford GT’s early build date, low mileage or connection to Kid Rock. $638,000 is an impressive result. RM Sotheby’s has sold three more examples of this supercar in 2022. At the Amelia Island 2022 sale, a yellow 2006 model year car sold for $544,000 At the same auction, a silver 2005 model car sold for $538,000. At the Fort Lauderdale sale, a white 2005 GT sold for $437,250.

Production of the current Ford GT is currently being halted. According to reports, the final build will be completed in December 2022. The Blue Oval teases a Holman Moody Heritage Edition featuring a gold body.

Ford may make a limited number of GTs with greater power to end its run. There are many rumors and even spy photos that could hint at the vehicle’s development. However, the automaker has yet to make any official statements.
