Koenigsegg Gemera First Drivable Prototype Sounds Wicked On Video

Christian Von Koenigsegg takes the wheel of the supercar’s four-seat configuration.

In March 2020, the Koenigsegg Gemera was introduced as the brand’s fourth-seat hypercar. The Swedish automaker now owns its first drivable prototype, with all the necessary systems. It has been around two years since the debut of the Koenigsegg Gemera. While development continues, Christian Von Koenigsegg, the company boss, shows the current state of the machine in a new video.

This clip features two other Koenigseggs. The first Jesko prototype is shown, as well as the first Regera vehicle test. However, the Gemera is our star.

The Gemera is a 2.0-liter three-cylinder twin-turbocharged engine that incorporates three electric motors, one at the front and two at its rear. The result is 1,700 horsepower (1.268 kilowatts), and 2,581 pound feet (3,500 Newton-meters). The four-seater can reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) in 1.9 seconds. It also has a projected top speed at 249 mph (400 km/h).

This powertrain can be configured with all-wheel drive or four-wheel steering and torque vectoring to send power to every corner.

The battery can provide pure electric driving for up to 31 miles (50 km). The Gemera can reach speeds of up to 186 mph (30 kph) when in EV mode.

Von Koenigsegg claims that the company is still working to improve the car’s exhaust note. At idle, the sound from the pipes can be described as “industrial”. As the revs increase, the note becomes more aggressive.

The Gemera development vehicle is currently limited to a maximum speed of 4,500 rpm. It should reach 8,500 revs when it is finished.

This Gemera’s interior is not finished and many wires can still be seen. The supercar will be able to carry four people in relative luxury when it is completed. This is at least according to performance vehicle standards. You will find four heated and cooled cupholders as well as front and rear infotainment screens. There is also three-zone climate control and wireless phone chargers in both rows. Buyers have the option to order custom luggage that matches the cabin’s color scheme.

Koenigsegg intends to build 300 units for the Gemera. It is not known when delivery of the final production units will begin.
