According to some reports, the concept car’s name comes from its target top speed of 500 km/h.
Bugatti was the first car to join the 300-mph club, with the Chiron 300+ unveiled last September. The production car can only go 273 mph (440 km/h), but reports allow customers to ask Bugatti for the limiter to be removed. Owners can also go to Ehra-Lessien Volkswagen Group to try and replicate Andy Wallace’s 304.77-mph run on the same track.
Koenigsegg, along with Hennessey’s Venom and SSC North America’s Tuatara also hopes to break the 300-mph mark with its Jesko. The Jesko 300 version, which can reach 300 mph (482.8 km/h) was briefly mentioned by the Swedish hypercar marque when the Agera RS replacement was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show almost a year ago.
Koenigsegg believes the Jesko can surpass the impressive mark and dethrone its car in the speed-race – the 277.87 mph Agera RS. Side note: The Chiron Super Sport 300 wasn’t crowned the fastest production car in the world because it couldn’t run the fastest both directions.
According to the Supercar Blog, the Jesko will be faster than the previous version. Koenigsegg is working on a version which will surpass the 500 km/h (3110.6 mph) speed limit. Although it is not clear if we are dealing with the same Jesko 300, or a hotter version of the Jesko, our money is on either.
Koenigsegg will undoubtedly present a Mission 500 concept at March’s Geneva Motor Show to show off a production hypercar capable of reaching a staggering speed of 500 km/h. Although the report does not specifically mention that the concept will be based upon the Jesko, it would make sense as it is the company’s latest car.
The annual Swiss car show will host the 89 th edition, which will begin March 3, with the first press conference.
