The best of automotive nudity.

You may have seen our articles last year about the many flavors of Regera that company employees created if you have been following Koenigsegg closely. We bring this up because one of the designs was created by the Facility Manager at the automaker. It had a finish that was very similar to the “naked Regera.”

This Regera is actually real and exists in the real world. It was recently delivered to its rightful owner in Switzerland. Koenigsegg claims it is the first car to be completely finished in Koenigsegg Naked Carbon. KNC doesn’t contain any lacquer, varnish, or other coatings on the carbon fiber surface. This means that it is 100% carbon fiber. Even the very thin epoxy layer found on carbon-fiber-bodied cars has been removed using hand polishing. We can only imagine how laborious this must have been.

This finish, or better yet, the absence of one, makes the car absolutely stunning. It also helps with weight as it is about 20 kg (44 pounds) lighter that a regular painted Regera. It’s not only a win-win situation, as the Swedish marque points out that the naked body is less susceptible to scratches.

Koenigsegg explained that the hypercar’s sensuous body is cold to the touch because it is made of pure carbon and not an insulating epoxy layer or lacquer coating. It is a time-consuming job to sand and polish the carbon fiber body in order to get a raw finish. A single mistake could cause the entire body panel to be destroyed.

This Darth Vader approved example is one of 80 Regeras that are in production. Although the hypercar was sold out in June 2017, it took a while to build these automobile gems.
