The Salaff C2 was created by the same man who designed the defunct Mazda Furai.

Pebble Beach saw quite a few debuts from prominent automakers this week. Bugatti’s Chiron-based Divo was unveiled, Lamborghini introduced the Aventador SVJ and Ferrari introduced the 488 Pista Web Spider. This supercar, which is edgy and bold, was also a first for the company. Salaff created the C2, a radical interpretation of the Lamborghini Gallardo.

This is Carlos Salaff’s pet project. His previous work includes the 2006 Mazda Nahare and (fiery!) Furai concept, as well as production cars such the Mazda3 or MX-5. Salaff was founded in 2013, and the C2 shown here is the first production model. We don’t have much information about the supercar, but we do know that it is based on the Lamborghini Gallardo’s underpinnings and features a carbon-fiber body. A hand-beaten aluminum bodywork can also be ordered. Salaff will need to supply the Gallardo to the company. The company can transform the Lamborghini ‘s entry-level model with an E-Gear into a manual with a gated shifter. Engineers are also developing a more complex suspension and independent throttle bodies for naturally aspirated V10 engines.

The two-seater, sleek-looking machine is designed by models like the Porsche 917 and the Peugeot 905. Although pricing details have not yet been revealed, we know that there will be limited production. The Gallardo-based project’s name is C2, which refers to a three-seat C1 with central driver’s seat. Salaff’s website also features a C3, which is a high-performance grand touring vehicle with a 1960s-inspired design.
