For its carbon fiber body, the RWD machine now has an aero package.
The Huracan Super Trofeo was unveiled by Lamborghini’s motorsport division in 2014. A year later, the GT3 variant was introduced. In 2018, a GT3 EVO was launched. In 2020, the GT2 race car was launched. Lamborghini Squadra Corse will unveil a new version of this track-only supercar. The GT3 EVO2 is named after the STO, which is a road-going Super Trofeo version, hence the Super Trofeo Omologata moniker.
The EVO2 can be purchased as either a new car or an upgrade package for existing GT3 EVO drivers. It is based on the rear-wheel version of the Huracan GT3 EVO and features a carbon fiber body. A revised aerodynamic package is available for the second generation of the racer, with a new diffuser that increases rear downforce. The STO-derived massive wings help the car stay glued to the road. They also have new supports that allow for more adjustment.
The hexagonal roof scoop is a very familiar design. It has been taken from the TO. The snorkel has been replaced by the upper side air intakes. The rear fin was also made from the most mean road-going Huracan. The EVO2 with its updated aero conforms to all FIA technical requirements.
Engineers have fitted naturally-aspirated engines with 10 electronically controlled throttle bodies to increase the efficiency of the V10 with titanium valves. The engine’s entire system can be fixed with only four screws. This technique was first used on the hardcore Essenza. This makes it much easier to get to the area and perform maintenance work.
The floor has been strengthened by Zylon fiber coating. Lamborghini’s racing arm updated the roll cage with two rear pillars, honeycomb side panels and carbon- and Kevlar side panels. The Huracan GT3 EVO2’s structural rigidity is now demonstrated by the addition of plexiglass side windows to the door panel.
The wheels come wrapped around Pirelli tires. They are supported by new brakes that have more durable pads and calipers. Squadra Corse also modified the anti-lock brake and traction control systems to make it easier to drive in low-grip situations.
Customers will be receiving their cars in the second half year, just in time for the Daytona 24 Hours debut in January 2023. The GT3 EVO2 is not the last Huracan update. In fact, the Steratto will be arriving in the next few months. It’s a high-riding roadcar. This will be the last ICE-only supercar, as all future versions will be hybridized much like the replacement.
