Thanks to the Urus, we could see another year of success for Lamborghini.
Lamborghini announces its first quarter 2022 vehicle sales numbers. This is the company’s most successful quarter to date.
According to the release the marque, Sant’Agata Bolognese, had 2,539 vehicles shipped globally in the first three months. This figure increased by 5 percent in the same time period in 2021, and 31 percent in 2020. Notable: Lamborghini sold 8,405 units in 2021 to set an all time sales record.
This record-breaking sales figure surpasses the 16-year-old original Lamborghini Countach. From 1974 to 1990, nearly 2,000 units were built by the Italian brand.
“We have made a solid start for a year that will present new challenges on a global level. We can still count on extraordinary appeal around the world despite the uncertainty caused geopolitical situations that are not only distressing, but also make it difficult to forecast. Each month, we receive more orders than we produce. We have enough money to cover 12 months’ worth of production. We’re also preparing for a new phase in the Lamborghini Story in less than a year, as the company moves towards electrification with V12 hybrid models in 2023,” stated Stephan Winkelmann Chairman and CEO Automobili Lamborghini.
It is not surprising that the Urus SUV accounted for around half of all Q1 2022 sales, with the rest split between the Huracan and the Aventador.
The first quarter sales distribution was evenly split between the three regions of EMEA (Europe and Middle East and Africa, 40%), America (32%), and Asia Pacific (28%). Nearly all markets saw growth except Russia, where the company has stopped operations due to ongoing conflict.
Lamborghini stated that three new products are planned for the second half of the year, one for the Urus and two for the Huracan. The Huracan Tecnica was launched by the company at the 2022 New York Auto Show.
