G63 has a way to make the odds even.
There are two ways to spend six figure on a performance crossover: the Lamborghini Urus or the Mercedes AMG G63. The Lambo is more focused on street speed, while the Mercedes can go anywhere owners want. This clip shows how they compare in drag racing.
The G63 would normally have no chance in this race. Stock form, the twin-turbo 4.0 liter V8 produces 577 horsepower (430kW) and 627 pound feet (850 Newton-meters of torque). while weighing 5,842 pounds (2,650 kilograms) . The Urus, on the other hand, has a twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter that produces 650 horsepower (485 kW) as well as 627 lbft. weighing 4,850 pounds (2,200 kilograms)
This G63’s tune pushes the output to 700 horsepower (522 kW) at its wheels. These tweaks include dark dual exhaust tips, which add a stylish touch to this SUV. Even with the power upgrades, the G-Class remains quite heavy and has the aerodynamics like a brick.
The Mercedes suffers a poor launch in the first race and the Urus rockets away. The hosts then set up another run to give G63 another chance. Although the big, heavy machine is off to a better start, it still can’t match the Lamborghini. At the end, the Lambo is at least a car length ahead.
Next, the men give racing from a roll another shot. The G-Class should have a greater chance of winning because it doesn’t have to launch at a stop. However, the results do not change. The Urus is still ahead of the G63 and scores yet another win.
While the G-Class is capable of doing impressive things, straight-line acceleration does not make it a strong choice.
