Lamborghini’s first EV will be available in 2028 as a four-seat crossover

It will be followed shortly by the second-gen Urus.

Lamborghini will debut its last pure combustion model in this year . The Sant’Agata Bolognese-based firm will then switch to electrified powertrains in all of its models until its first fully electric model arrives in 2028. The automaker had already announced plans for a radical first EV, but Autocar has now provided more details.

According to British publication, Lambo’s first electric vehicle will be a 2+2 high-riding machine. He said that this pure electric product would be completely different from anything else. Lamborghini he has ever made.

Winkelmann stated, “When it comes down to the first fully-electric car it’s clear that we approach it clear and prudent.” Clear because we affirm that electrification is part our future. We are also prudent in saying that it’s a completely different car, the fourth model. If we are talking about a 2+2 or 4-seater, it’s a segment that we haven’t been in for decades. It may also be higher from the ground with greater ground clearance.

We can see from the history of Lamborghini that the CEO was probably referring back to the Urraco, which was a 2+2 seating configuration. The modern, purely electric replacement will begin development later in the year. This is when the final concept will be determined and the design philosophy will be established.

Winkelmann told Autocar that “it’s moving in the sense we’re deciding this Year what type of car it’s going to be and not just volumes, pricing and body style but more on the content and design of the car.” If everything goes according to plan, we will start the project before the end of the year.

The all-electric second generation Urus will follow this electric crossover. “The performance SUV will be completely electrified,” and there is no planned combustion-powered version. The new Urus will be just like Lambo’s first production EV.
