Lancia Announces a 10-Year Plan and Three New Models. Going EV-Only in 2028

New Ypsilons and Deltas are due in this decade.

Lancia hopes for a brighter future under the ownership of Stellantis. It will have more models and a global presence. Officially announcing a 10-year strategic plan for Lancia, the Italian marque takes the first step. It will start in 2024 with Ypsilon’s launch. This new business plan will culminate in 2028, when Lancia will only be selling electric vehicles.

The brand’s first new-generation model, the Ypsilon, will launch in 2024 with a fully electric engine range. The smallest Lancia vehicle will measure approximately 4.0m in length and will remain in Europe’s B segment. Also, a fully electric version is possible.

The brand will unveil its flagship product two years later, a 4.6-meter-long crossover, believed to be called Aurelia. According to the company, it will be the first European manufacturer in the largest segment. This makes it similar to the new Citroen C5X and the Opel Insignia. It will then transform into an SUV-sized vehicle.

In 2028, the Delta will be redesigned as a “sculpted, muscular car with geometric lines.” This likely means that it will keep the original hatchback shape. Lancia hopes that this new vehicle, which will measure 4.4m in length, will “attract car lovers throughout Europe.” It will also cover about half of Europe’s market. The 10-year plan calls for launching only electric vehicles starting in 2026. This means that the Aurelia, and Delta will most likely be zero-emissions products. Lancia will start selling 100 percent electric models starting in 2028. This means that even electrified combustion engines will be discontinued. This new strategy will be implemented by five new top managers, along with a brand manager for France and Spain. Lancia hopes to have around 100 dealers in 60 major European cities by the end of this decade.
