It is expected to arrive in the second half of this year.
The company is working on a Land Rover Range Rover Evoque plug in hybrid. One was spotted by Electric Vehicle Web, near Staffordshire, England. We were able to reproduce the image thanks to the site.
It would be difficult to identify that this is an Evoque Plug-In without the information on the door. Although the charging port is not visible in the photo, it is presumably hidden behind the grille.
Electric Vehicle Web suggests that the EvoquePHEV would be powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged, three-cylinder engine to power the front wheels and an electrical motor to spin the rear axle.
The new Evoque was introduced by Land Rover in late 2018., and the first displayed it to the American public at 2019 Chicago Auto Show. It also offers a mild-hybrid powertrain. The 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder produces 296 horsepower (221 megawatts). It can be run on electric power at speeds of less than 11 miles an hour (17 km per hour). The 2.0-liter turbo can be ordered without mild-hybrid technology. It produces 246 horsepower (183 kW).
Motor1.com spoke with Dave Larsen, Jaguar Land Rover North America’s product and launch planning Director. He stated that the company had designed the Evoque to have a transverse engine layout and the inline-six powerplant couldn’t fit. If the company needs more power, electrification could be an option.
Although there is not any information about when the Evoque PHEV will arrive, it seems likely that it won’t be too long. Expect a unveiling in the next year.
