Land Rover’s Range Rover Sport has been unveiled for a little over a month. As it moves into its third generation, the $84,000 luxury SUV will be all-new for 2023. We will get an updated Sport and new spy shots from the testing of the performance model near the Nurburgring.
While the high-performance SUV keeps its design hidden behind camouflage and plastic cladding, the SVR’s performance parts can be seen through the covers. The SVR’s bigger brakes and quad exhaust pipes that stick out the back of the vehicle reveal its true nature. However, the SVR needs to get unique styling touches such as a modified bumper or unique wheels.
Land Rover’s move to the MLA Flex platform for the new Range Rover Sport VVR model, which also supports the Land Rover Range Rover, will be a benefit to the new Range Rover Sport Sport SVR . The platform is stiffer and reduces cabin noise. It can accommodate mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
The new SVR will be powered by a BMW-sourced twin turbocharged 4.4-liter engine. This engine powers the BMW X5 M Competition with 615 horsepower and 553 poundfeet (750 Newton meters) of torque. Land Rover should produce around the same amount.
It is likely that the engine will be paired with an all-wheel drive and fast-shifting automatic transmission. The SVR should reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.5 seconds. This is the same speed as the previous SVR. Land Rover can reach the same speed of 173 mph (280 km/h).
We expect the RR Sport SVR’s interior to have sportier seats, digital and physical SVR branding, and more upholstery options. Land Rover will likely improve the driving modes on the sportier model.
Land Rover has not yet indicated when the Range Rover Sport SVR will debut. However, it is likely that it won’t be too distant in the future. However, it is possible that it will happen before the year ends. Last month saw the debut of the regular Range Rover Sport. Land Rover opened its order books but didn’t specify when it would be available for sale. The RR Sport will arrive before the SVR.
