This video shows the SUV’s V8 exhaust note.
Land Rover has already opened the doors to the new-generation Range Rover Sport, while spy shots give a glimpse of what’s next for the automaker. A video from Automotive Mike’s YouTube channel shows the latest preview of the model’s performance-oriented SVR trim on the Nurburgring circuit race track and roads surrounding it.
Although the SUV is still covered in full-body camouflage, the video allows us to hear the exhaust note. The familiar, deep bellow is audible but it can be hard to hear due to road noises and background sounds.
A BMW-sourced twin-turbocharged V8 engine of 4.4-liter capacity should produce the rumble. Rumours claim that the third-gen Range Rover Sport VVR could produce 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts). Current SVR outputs 575 hp (428 kW), but the new engine could easily surpass it, as it produces 625 hp (466 kW), in the BMW X5 M Competition.
As the SVR’s V8 is the most powerful, the regular Sport will come with a 48-volt mild hybrid powertrain. It is also possible to get a fully electric version or a plug-in hybrid.
Although camouflage covers some of the SUV’s more sporty styling elements, it is impossible to conceal certain SVR trademarks. Due to its unique suspension, the SVR is a little lower than the standard model. The SUV has quad exhaust pipes and bigger brakes, which are different from the ones on the test vehicle.
Although we have not seen the interior of the Range Rover Sport, it looks similar to the one in the new Range Rover. They ride on the Modular Longitudinal Architecture platform of Land Rover. Land Rover has not yet announced when the new Range Rover Sport will be revealed, but we anticipate a debut in late 2022 before it goes on the market for the 2023 model years.
