The original inspiration behind the design of the crossover can’t be hidden by this nip-and-tuck.

We’re sure Land Rover isn’t blushing after seeing the Landwind X7 updated images. The compact crossover was launched in China three years ago. It is currently undergoing a complete refresh. However, despite this, we can’t help but notice a striking resemblance with the Evoque.

Although the bumpers and headlights have been modified, the overall design of the X7 still evokes (get it?) The smallest Land Rover crossover has strong vibes. The X7 is almost identical to the Evoque, and the sizes of the models are nearly the same. The Chinese CUV’s facelift has included other changes such as new front fenders and exhaust tips, roof rails and a metallic bar between taillights. This replaces the black plastic that was on the older model.

According to Chinese media, the 2018 Landwind X7 will continue with a turbocharged 2.0 liter gasoline engine that produces 190 horsepower. The 1.5-liter turbo unit will also be available with 150 horsepower. This will bring the model’s price down to 100,000 yuan ($15,000). The X7 with the larger engine costs 129,800 yuan ($19,000.00) while the fully loaded model is priced at 147.800 yuan ($22.300).

Gerry McGovern is the Land Rover design chief. He expressed concern about showing new concepts. JLR is concerned that Chinese automakers might steal the designs and, ironically, beat the Land Rover/Jaguar production version to the market.

“We are nervous about showing show cars a few years ahead as you can be copied just the way that.”

Recall that Jiangling Motor and Land Rover are still at odds over the design of the X7. Because of their low chances of winning, automakers around the globe tend not to file charges against Chinese automakers.
