After its virtual CES appearance, the zero-emissions sportscar headed to Sin City.

The HyperionXP-1 hydrogen fuel cell supercar was unveiled last year. However, keen-eyed Las Vegas residents may have seen the zero-emissions vehicle in action as it cruised along the Strip. Hyperion’s new baby was taken out on the road to pay homage at CES’ in-person home.

The XP-1 made a few passes by the Fountains of Bellagio, fittingly – maybe the water vapor from Hyperion’s fuel cell intermingled in with the misty tourist attraction. The XP-1 also made a stop in the Nevada desert to check its performance. However, Hyperion did not release video, so it is impossible to know how fast the XP-1 was moving in these images.

The Hyperion XP-1 promises supercar performance thanks to its fuel-cell engine. It can sprint at 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.2 seconds and reach speeds of more than 221 mph (356km/h). This is definitely not a Toyota Mirai. The company claims that the hydrogen fuel cells produce electric power, which is sent to all four wheels via a three-speed transmission. It also claims that it can travel 1,016 miles (1.635 km).

The XP-1 is expected to arrive in the hands of consumers next year. Hyperion claims it has a solution for the current shortage of hydrogen refuelling stations. However, the automaker is still in its infancy and has not provided any details. It is also unclear how much it will cost. However, if the Hyperion XP-1’s tech-heavy interior – a 98 inch curved screen with gesture controls – and its claimed performance, it won’t come cheap.
