These are just a few of the facts you may not know about America’s most powerful muscle car.
Are you tired of hearing about the Dodge Demon? We are neither. We already know the muscle car can produce as much as 840 horsepower on race fuel and a 0-to-60 time of only 2.3 seconds. Dodge has just published a few fun facts about its most powerful vehicle yet.
First, the Demon V8 suckers up 173 cubic feet of air during a quarter mile run. This is equivalent to 816 people’s lung capacity. The engine can empty all of the cabin air at 800 feet in the same quarter mile run.
At rated power, the V8’s cooling system can reject 258 kilowatts heat. This means that it could boil a quarter of a quart in just 1.2 seconds. It also has the ability to heat up 250 electric toasters. Fuel flows at 1.36 Gallons per Minute at rated power. This is about the same speed as a standard showerhead. Each power stroke, piston and connecting rod are pre-loaded with 11 tonnes of force.
However, the most striking fact is the power this car can generate from the line. Officially, the Demon can pull 1.8 Gs. The Demon can pull 1.8 Gs. This is slightly less than the Bugatti Vector (1.55G) and more than twice that of a spaceship (3G). At launch, a total of 1 ton (2500 pounds) is transferred between the front and rear wheels.
If you didn’t know, the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 produces all of that power. It produces the above 840 hp (626 Kilowatts) as well as 770 pound-feet (1.044 Newton-meters), on race fuel. The 808 horsepower (602 kW) is impressive, while the 717 lb/ft (972Nm) torque on 91.
The Demon is equipped with a set 315/40R18 Nitto N05R drag radials, which are 18 inches in diameter by 11 inches wide. This makes it the first production car to be sold with these tires. The Demon’s unique compound gives it three times the traction coefficient of the Hellcat. The Demon, is a truly amazing vehicle that costs only $85,000.
