However, this doesn’t exclude the possibility of a V8 flagship model.
The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor will arrive later in the year with new technology and a revised design. One thing will not change is the standard EcoBoost high output 3.5-liter V6. This is according to a leaked dealer order guide. It first appeared on the F150Gen14.com forum. The guide also contained exterior colors and packages for Ford’s flagship offroader.
Early rumors were a wishful thinking. Early rumors (or was that wishful thinking?) suggested that the 2021 Raptor would have a V8 option. This could be either the 5.0-liter Coyote mill of the standard F-150, or the supercharged GT500. Although it is possible that one of these engines will appear later in the F-150 Raptor’s lifecycle, for now it appears that the EcoBoost high-output engine will be the only available.
This isn’t the worst thing, as the Raptor’s turbo V6 produces a healthy 450 horsepower (336 Kilowatts) & 510 pound-feet (691 Newton-meters). It also has very little turbolag which makes it a great choice for the F-150 Raptor, which is Baja-ready. The EcoBoost doesn’t get much respect from those who believe there is no replacement for displacement. It sounds almost like a 1970s vacuum cleaner, but it is an excellent mate for the F-150 Raptor.
Ford might offer a PowerBoost hybrid engine instead of a V8 if they decide to make it an option in the 2021 Raptor. The PowerBoost hybrid combines the standard-output EcoBoost V6 with an electric motor and the 10-speed transmission to produce a healthy 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft (321kW and 773Nm in the regular), so a Raptor variant that is hybridized might produce nearly 500 horses and 600 units. The dealer guide reveals that the new Raptor is available in eight colors. These include Code Orange, Rapid Red Velocity Blue and Antimatter Blue. The twin-panel moonroof option will cost $1,495 and the 17-inch forged aluminum wheels $1,895 (we assume cast-aluminum wheels will be standard). The hot offroader will officially debut on February 3rd.
As we have reported, the Raptor will be getting a new, slightly less aggressive sibling, the Tremor, in the F-150 lineup. The Tremor, unlike the FX4 offroad package, is a separate trim level. It has three different equipment groups as well as a variety options. Ford CoPilot 360 Assist, remote start, and 360-degree cameras are just a few of the available options. The Tremor will be available in seven colors: Agate Black (Oxford White), Stone Gray, Velocity Blue (Antimatter Blue), Iconic Silver, Lead Foot, and Stone Gray. The standard EcoBoost V6 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 produces 400 horsepower and 500 lb-ft (398 kW and 678 nm) and monotube front shock absorbers.
