Twitter posted a blunt message telling remote executives to either stay or go.
Many companies found that the COVID-19 pandemic had a dramatic impact on their workdays. Employees were sent home with cameras and computers to manage company business in a safe setting. Work-from-home arrangements were initially viewed as temporary solutions, but some businesses have made them permanent. Tesla seems to disagree.
Today’s Twitter post contained a rather blunt email, which was allegedly sent by TeslaCEO Elon Muss. The subject of the email was addressed to executive staff and read “remote work [ sic]. The email states that staff must be “… at the office for at least 40 hours per week. It’s not what Tesla requires of factory workers. The email also states that the “office” refers to a primary Tesla office and not a remote branch.
This message seems to have been sent by Sam Nissim, a Twitter user. According to Nissim’s Twitter profile, he has been a Tesla shareholder since 2018. It is not known how Nissim obtained the email. Nissim’s twitter profile is closed to messages.
Musk is aware, however. Musk responded to @WholeMarsBlog’s tweet asking about remote workers. His account said “they should pretend they work somewhere else”. According to Newsweek, this email was only sent to executives and not regular employees.
As Tesla expands globally, the call for a return to office is urgent. The Texas plant was launched earlier this year and showcased a range of Model Y vehicles, including a surprise appearance by an advanced Cybertruck prototype . The company plans to produce 1.5 million vehicles by 2022, in conjunction with other Tesla factories worldwide.
