We are still waiting for the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, and the debut of the next generation MercedesBenz E class. However, there is a huge leak of photos that we can share.
After months of spy photos and speculation renderings, teasers, and spy photos, we finally have a complete view of the exterior design for the 2016 E Class. Official images were leaked by the German Auto-Presse. The model is essentially a smaller S Class than a larger C Class, so it’s difficult to say if there are any surprises.
A massive radiator grille dominates the front end, which is also surrounded by a pair of sweptback headlights. The front bumper features two large air intakes and a stylish lip spoiler.
The chrome bar that runs between the dual exhaust system and the LED taillights is visible at the back of keen-eyed viewers.
The executive sedan, which is also reported by our German colleagues, measures 193.8 inches in length and has a 0.23 drag coefficient. The 2016 E Class will come with a 2.0-liter diesel engine that produces 195 horsepower. The engine will be available in the 220d model, which will deliver 60.3 miles per gallon (3.9 Liters per 100 km on average). A 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine for the E200 model will also be available, with unreleased technical details.
These will later be joined by an E350e plug in hybrid, which will combine a 2.0 turbo and an electric motor to produce a total of 279 horsepower. The petrol range will include engines with power from 183 to 333 horsepower, and two new diesel engines that produce 150 hp each.
