Leaked Toyota GR Corolla Memo Claims Model Reaches Dealers In October

This timing is in line with Toyota’s plans to launch the base model by the end of this year.

According to a leak on the GR Corolla Forum, the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla is expected to arrive at dealers in October 2022. Motor1.com reached Toyota to verify the legitimacy of this document. “Thanks for reaching us. A spokesperson for the company said that they couldn’t confirm an “on-sale” at the moment.

Toyota’s GR Corolla launched in October. It stated that the entry-level Core model would be available before the end. This is in line with the internal memo that claimed the hot hatch would arrive at showrooms in October.

The GR Corolla Core is less aggressive than the Morizo Edition and hotter Circuit Edition , which will arrive in the 2023 year. This grade does not have the Circuit’s bulging hood or forged carbon-fiber roof. An optional Performance Package includes the front and rear Torsen limited slip differentials.

The Core’s G16E-GTS turbocharged 1.6-liter turbocharged engine produces 300 horsepower (224 kilowatts), and 273 pound feet (370 Newton-meters). It is a six-speed manual transmission with rev-matching. All-wheel drive system offers 60-40, 50-50 and 30-70 front-rear torque split settings.

The Core’s cabin features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster as well as an 8.0-inch infotainment display. The upholstery is made of a combination of Brin Naub faux leather and synthetic leather in a black/red color scheme. You can upgrade to a Cold Weather Package that includes heated front seats and a heated steering column. You can also choose a Technology Package that includes navigation, an upgraded stereo and wireless smartphone charging.

Motor1.com was previously informed by a Toyota spokesperson that over 5,000 Core models were planned for production. The Circuit Edition was limited to 1,500 units. Only 200 Morizo Editions will be made in the United States.

All GR Corolla models will be in high demand, but the Morizo should have a particularly high level of interest. The engine produces 295 lb-ft (400 nm) more torque and the gearbox has a shorter gearing. The ratios of the differential gears are also smaller. The rear seats are gone from the interior.
