Low-end boost of up to 800 hp Wow.
The Mustang GT is a pony car capable of producing up to 460 horses, and 420 pound-feet torque straight out of a Ford plant. We love its naturally-aspirated engine, and the low-end torque that will keep your head on the headrest is a big plus for car enthusiasts.
What if your 5.0-liter Coyote engine had more power? What can you do? Lebanon Ford Performance (LFP), however, has a solution. It can increase your ‘Stang’s power to produce a jaw-dropping 2,000 horsepower.
The LFP Street Sleeper Twin-Turbo Mustang is a modified Mustang GT. It doesn’t look like it, as the twin-turbos mount under the car. Because of their unusual location, it is almost impossible to see the turbos. This gives rise to the “sleeper”, which refers to the fact that they pack extra boost.
LFP’s website states that the Street Sleeper Twin-Turbo Mustang can generate 800 horsepower of low-end boost. Aside from that, the system is capable of 40 pound-force-per-square-inch boost and over 2,000 hp. We aren’t sure if the system is reliable at this amount of boost. However, LFP claims that the tube lines are simpler and more reliable.
If you are curious, the base kit that includes a five-pound wastegate spring could give you a maximum boost up to seven PSI or 800 hp at your crank. A second, seven-pound spring is included in the package, which can provide up to 10 PSI. This could bring the ‘Stang to 1000 crank horsepower. LFP can set up the car for you at a higher level of boost, but this would require additional tuning.
The LFP Twin-Turbo Mustang GT is priced at $39,995. However, if you already own a Mustang GT and want to boost it, you can order the Hellion Power Systems turbo separately. The good news is that you can do the same thing for 2015-2017 Mustang GTs.
