What cars will you be able to afford the most in five years? Here’s a list.

Kelley Blue Book awarded the cars with the lowest ownership costs over five years. Two Japanese brands are the most popular among all 2022 model-year automobiles on the market: Toyota, and Lexus.

KBB awarded Lexus and Toyota the 2022 Kelley Blue Book 5-Year To Own Awards for luxury and mainstream brands. KBB also awarded a 5-Year Cost To Award to each vehicle category. You can see the table below.

You can see that five Toyota vehicles are included in the 23 vehicle types, including the Corolla and Avalon. The Corolla Hybrid is also available. Sienna and the Tundra were recently launched. The luxury vehicle categories include the UX (NX), RX (RX), and LX (LX).

The Nissan LEAF won the award for mainstream brand, while the Tesla Model 3 was the winner in the luxury segment.

The 2022 model-year vehicles’ projected ownership costs are based upon the 5-year average Kelley Blue Book Cost to Own data. This is the initial five year period of ownership.
